Watch: 'Loveshhuda' trailer promises freshness and pursues link between nostalgia and contemporary morals

Vijay Galani’s rom-com Loveshhuda's trailer throws forward an interesting cultural and socio-historical challenge to Indian cinema. How far must we go in pursuit of a connection between contemporary morals and nostalgia? That is the tantalising question the film’s exuberant young couple throws forward as the film’s protagonist, after an evening of binging, finds himself in bed with an unfamiliar woman.

The man is Girish Taurani, with his curly hair from Ramaiya Vastavaiya straightened out, while the morals are all curled up…in bed. The girl, who finds herself in bed with the stranger, is Navneet Singh Dhillon, a Miss World pageant winner hoping to strike it big in Bollywood with a role that is a few pegs sassier than what nice girls generally play in desi rom-coms.
There is also a delicious catch to the one-night-stand. Taurani is to get married the following day. And not to the girl he finds himself in bed with.
And while this saga of a one-night raga unfolds, there is Vishal Dadlani with his own billowing alaap in the background…Aaj phir peene ki tamannah hai…The line borrows the immortal lyricist Shailendra’s song of freedom for the unforgettable Rosy (Waheeda Rehman) in Vijay Anand’s Guide and turns into a modern Bacchanalia.
Vishal Dadlani’s belts out the boozed-out song with gusto and Taurani, hair flattened out, seems to have fun with the lyrics.
The trailer is fun to watch. The film seems to have been made with the express purpose of re-launching Girish Taurani with a vehicle that teases and provokes without crossing the limits.
There is even a moment in the trailer where a sassy girl gives us guru gyan on sex. “If you don’t look deep into the eyes of the one you fall in love with, then you end up having bad sex for the next seven years.”
Ah, that figures.
Loveshhuda , I suspect , may turn out to be the surprise of the season. It certainly looks fresh and inviting.

Juhi Chawla wants ‘Chalk N Duster’ to be declared tax-free in Maharashtra also
Mumbai: Educational drama “Chalk N Duster” actor Juhi Chawla wants the film to be declared tax-free in Maharashtra like in four states which have given it this status.
“It’s a matter of great joy that as soon as the committees watched the film, they felt that this film should be tax-free and that it should reach the people. We have received it so soon in four states, but I’m waiting for Maharashtra because it is our home. This is where Bollywood is, and this is where the film was made – shooting took place in Mumbai and Aurangabad,” said Juhi at a screening of the film.
“So I feel that others are giving us a lot of respect and love, and it’d be great if our home (state) also gives us recognition.”
The film has received tax-free tag in Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Juhi had tweeted about her delight at did and the other lead actress Shabana Azmi also had shared her joy about the news.
The film has received positive reviews from some critics, and Juhi said it was “heartwarming”.
“When I had heard the script of the film, it had touched me. And in the same way it has been touching the hearts of the audiences, so I feel delighted. The most strong point of the film is its content – its writing and its intentions. If it touches your heart, our work feels satisfied.”
Did she invite her good friend and business partner Shah Rukh Khan for a screening? “I couldn’t get the time to invite anyone… literally there was no screening from my side since just two days back the film got ready. We were all over the place for promotions, so I couldn’t get time,” she said.
Jayant Gilatar’s “Chalk N Duster” deals with how the commercialization affects the education system. The film also starring Zarina Wahab, Richa Chadha, Divya Dutta, Samir Soni, Jackie Shroff among others, released on Friday.
